Guwahati, July 30 : Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has apologized for dancing and playing golf at a function in Asaam despite of knowing that the government had declared seven days of mourning as a tribute to the laste former president Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. Gogoi had courted controversy after he had been captured by a local news channel dancing and making merry with women of Assam tea gardening community at the inaugural function of an amalgamated plantation hospital at Hatikhuli in Golaghat district. Gogoi was also captured playing golf and snooker afterward. The images of the function had immediately been flashed all over local news channels and the opposition lambasted the CM for displaying a disrespectful attitude and irresponsible behaviour.  “On Saturday, Gogoi lost his close friend and former Union minister BK Handique and, on Monday, we lost our former President. Here is a chief minister who is busy dancing and playing golf,” said state BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharya.

Gogoi apologized later saying,”I did a mistake by dancing at a function. I should not have done it when we are mourning APJ Abdul Kalam’s unfortunate death. I apologize for this. Playing golf wasn’t enjoyment though.”
