Delhi Rains LIVE Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi as the capital city and NCR region received heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Monday. The city was under yellow alert earlier, and similar situation was observed for Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. Owing to the heavy rainfall, all schools in the Gurugram are advised to conduct online classes on 02-09-2025. Meanwhile, the water level in Yamuna continued to flow above the danger mark, with the river looking visibly swelled up in visuals from this morning.
The Punjab government has extended the closure of all schools until September 3 due to the ongoing flood situation in the state. “In accordance with the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, keeping in view the flood situation in Punjab, holidays have been declared in all government/aided/recognised and private schools in the state until September 3, 2025,” Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said.
Rajasthan also witnessed heavy downpour on Monday. Rain alert and affected districts are Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jhunjhunu, Tonk, Alwar, Kotputli-Bahadurgarh, Sikar, Kota, Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Udaipur, Bharatpur etc. School holidays have also been declared in some districts.
Heavy rains lash parts of Noida, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reported service delays between Barakhamba and Indraprastha stations on the Blue Line due to a signalling malfunction. This technical glitch impacted the automated safety system responsible for controlling train operations.
With the Yamuna crossing the danger mark on Tuesday, water began entering houses in parts of the Trans-Yamuna area of Delhi.
As the sea condition is very likely to be rough during Tuesday and Wednesday, the IMD has cautioned fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast till September 3.

With heavy rainfall flooding large parts of Gurugram and bringing traffic to a standstill, authorities have urged corporate offices to let employees work from home and directed schools to shift to online classes as the city struggles with severe waterlogging.
In view of the flood situation, the authorities have directed the closure of traffic and public movement on the bridge over the Yamuna River, effective from 5:00 PM on September 2, 2025, in response to a flood advisory issued by the Central Water Commission (CWC).

Hathras: Due to the rain, children reached school in the morning while getting drenched. Considering the weather, a holiday was declared in all schools from Class 1 to Class 8. After that, the children returned home from school. Heavy rainfall in the afternoon caused waterlogging on the routes to several schools.
Shamli: On Monday, Acting District School Inspector Lata Rathore informed that due to continuous rainfall, as per the instructions of the District Magistrate, a holiday has been declared today, i.e., Tuesday, in all schools and colleges of every board from Class 1 to Class 12.
