New Delhi, July 21: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed the Dalits of Gujarat to not to attempt committing suicides. He has asked them to take inspiration from Dalit icon and the architect of Indian constitution Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Kejriwal has urged the youth of the state to restore their faith in the system and wage a political and legal battle for justice. Motivating the members of Dalit community, he said that the entire nation has stood up in their support, and they would not be left alone in this struggle for justice.

Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad on Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashutosh shared a video clip of party supremo Kejriwal, where he could be seen with folded hands saying, “Children and youth of Dalit community, we cannot commit suicide. Why we should you commit suicide? Instead, you will fight for justice. The whole country is backing you. We should learn from Babasaheb Ambedkar. We cannot lose this battle against the forces of oppression,” Kejriwal said in the 2-minute clip.

Kejriwal also condemned the assault against the seven Dalit youths in Una town of Somnath Giri district in the most stringent manner. “It has hurt the soul of the entire nation,” he added.

The AAP chief then lashed out at the Anandiben Patel government in the state, accusing it of hurting the sentiments of all the communities in the region. Kejriwal said that the BJP government launched an onslaught against the Patidar community who were peacefully raising their demand.

The video released by Kejriwal comes a day before his visit to the state. On Friday, the AAP supremo is expected to reach Rajkot and visit adjoining Dalit dominated regions. He would meet the victims of Una incident and extend sympathies with the families of those who attempted to commit suicide.
