India-Bangladesh relations: India on Wednesday summoned Bangladesh High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah to lodge a formal diplomatic protest over surging anti-India rhetoric in the neighbouring country, including inflammatory remarks made by a Bangladesh leader who had threatened to help sever the “Seven Sisters” from India’s northeast.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the Bangladesh envoy was apprised about India’s strong concerns at the deteriorating security environment in Bangladesh, and his attention was drawn, in particular, to the activities of some extremist elements who have announced plans to create a security situation around the Indian Mission in Dhaka.
