New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu Police on Friday arrested the crane operator who was in charge at the time when an accident killed three technicians on the sets of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 in Chennai. The freak incident happened on Wednesday night at suburban Narathpet area during the film’s shooting when a crane, weighing around 100 tons, employed to erect the movie’s set, collapsed killing three assistants working at the scene. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan along with his co-star Kajal Aggarwal witnessed a narrow escape from the accident. Also Read - Kamal Haasan Meets Rajinikanth At His Poes Garden Residence

“We escaped by a whisker. Four seconds earlier, the director (Shankar) and cameraman moved away and I was standing nearer along with the heroine (Kajal Aggarwal),” Haasan told reporters. The Tamil Nadu Police has already booked Lyca Productions, the film’s production house headed by A Sbuskaran, under Sections 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery), 337 (causing hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304A (death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

The police also said that it would also summon Kamal Haasan and Shankar to further inquire about the accident.
