New Delhi, Jan 15: Giving a befitting reply to continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan, the Indian Army on Monday killed at least seven Pakistani soldiers in retaliatory firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kotli sector of Poonch district.
According to reports, Indian soldiers responded to Pakistani firing in the same capacity resulting in heavy casualties on the other side.
“Indian Army carried out retaliatory action against Pakistan, killing 7 soldiers and injuring 4 others in forward areas along LoC in J-K’s Poonch district,” the Army said in a statement.
Reports in Pakistani media confirmed that four soldiers were killed as Indian forces targeted posts situated in Kotli sector.
Speaking on the occasion of 70th Army Day, General Bipin Rawat warned Pakistan of a strong reaction by India if it continues to violate the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir. General Rawat said Indian forces would not hesitate in taking strong steps if the neighbouring country continues with its policy disturbing peace in the region. Pakistan has been trying to attack India’s national integrity and is providing continuous support to terrorists to carry out strikes on the Indian soil, however, we will not let the neighbouring nation succeed it its nefarious aims, General Rawat added.
The Army Chief’s tough remark came just hours after security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector killing six Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists. According to reports, the fidayeen (suicide) attackers were killed when they were trying to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri.
