New Delhi, April 3: Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria on Tuesday had a courtesy meeting with Pakistan’s National Security Advisor Naseer Khan Janjua and exchanged views on various bilateral issues. The meeting took place in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Islamabad, diplomatic sources in the Indian High Commission confirmed.

Speaking to news agency PTI, the sources, without giving any details of the meet said,“It was a courtesy meeting held in the PMO.” There was so far no word about the meeting by the Foreign Office.

Local media reported that the two discussed various issues including the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir. As per a report in The Express Tribune Pak’s NSA Janjua expressed serious concerns over the alleged human rights violations in Kashmir.

The meeting came days after  National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his Pakistani counterpart Nasir Janjua had a telephonic conversation over harassment of diplomats. On March 26, in a bid to restore a truce following the standoff over harassment of diplomats, Doval and Janjua intervened and sealed the agreement between the two countries as per the 1992 code of conduct (COC).

The two NSAs brought India and Pakistan to an agreement that the issue of diplomats’ alleged harassment be resolved under the 1992 CoC.
