New Delhi, June 5: The Ministry of Railways launched a weekly Antyodaya Express train starting from Santragachi to Chennai Central station on Monday. This train will be operational from today, i.e. June 6. The weekly Antyodaya service between Santragachi and Chennai Central was flagged off by Railway Minister of State Rajen Gohain in Kolkota.
This special train was introduced in June 2016 but it was not operated regularly. According to a PIB release, the weekly train will leave Santragachi on Mondays at 7 pm, and reach Central on Tuesdays at 22.45 pm. On the return journey, it will leave Central on Wednesdays at 8.10 am and reach Santragachi on Thursdays at 10.25 am.
Railway minister Piyush Goyal took to his official Twitter account said, “Equipped with many modern facilities for the passengers, the new Santragachi – Chennai Central Antyodaya Express will not only enhance connectivity between East & South India but also boost trade & tourism in the regions.”

The train will have stoppage at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Balugaon, Chatrapur, Brahampur, Sompetta, Palasa, Srikakulam Road, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Duvvada, Ankapalle, Samalkot Junction, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijaywada, Chirala, Ongole, Nellore, Gudur and Sullurupetta.
Today, among the stations the train will stop are Santragachi Junction, Kharagpur Junction, Balasore, Bhadrak , Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack Junction, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road Junction, Balugaon, Chatrapur, Brahmapur, Sompeta, Palasa,Srikakulam Road, Vizianagaram Junction, Visakhapatnam Junction, Duvvada, Anakapalle, Samalkot Junction, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada Junction, Chirala, Ongole, Nellore, Gudur Junction, Sullurupeta.
