New Delhi: The Indian Railways has launched a new feature on Wednesday as an update in the official website of IRCTC. This feature lets the passenger make sure that vacant berths are available and enables them to book seats even after the preparation of the reservation chart. Railway minister Piyush Goyal reportedly said that the new feature has been added to bring in greater transparency for passengers. The new feature will prevent passengers from searching for a ticket collector, Goyal said. He added that the ability of people to market favour will end, thereby the new feature would keep a check on the alleged malpractices in allotment of berths on trains. There will also be colour code to differentiate the seats that are booked, vacant and partially booked. The official website has incorporated over 120 different coach layouts and passengers will be able to view the coach layout of nine classes used in the reserved trains. Soon travellers will be able to book train tickets before the train departure within 30 minutes of the preparation of the second reservation chart, stated a report. The first chart is prepared four hours before the scheduled journey after which the second chart is prepared.
