Vadodara, Jun 7: Indian Railways has yet again come up with a unique initiative and this time at Vadodara railway station. In a bid to minimise plastic waste at the station, the Railway Department has installed bottle crushers in the premises.

Interestingly, passengers can even earn up to Rs 5 by crushing a plastic bottle. For this, they will have to enter their mobile number on the machine after dropping a bottle into it. Soon, a cashback of Rs 5 will be credited on their Paytm wallet.

The Vadodara division of Indian Railways recently decided to lend its empty platforms for organisation of parties or social gatherings. The innovative step has been taken by the railways in a bid to generate revenue from the empty platforms of the Vadodara division.

The railway stations which fall under the Vadodara division of Indian Railways are: Makarpura railway station, Vishvamitri railway station, Bajva railway station and Ankleshwar railway station. All of these will offer their empty platforms to people who want to organise parties or social gatherings.
