New Delhi, Jul 27: The passenger reservation system (PRS) of the Northern Railway would be suspended for three hours on the intervening night of July 29-July 30, a statement released by the Indian Railways said on Friday.
Adding further, it informed that all services of PRS — reservation activities, enquiry on 139 and internet booking — would not be available during the closure hours.
The PRS system will be remained closed from 11.45 PM on July 29 to 2.45 AM on July 30 due to static and dynamic database compression activity.
“Due to static and dynamic database compression activity in the passenger reservation system, the services would be temporarily suspended from 11.45 pm to 02.45 am on the intervening night of July 29-July 30,” the release said.
Earlier, in a similar exercise, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website, Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and other online services by the Indian Railways were unavailable for the passengers for six hours on the intervening night of May 2 and 3. The official website of IRCTC – irctc.co.in – and other online portals of the Indian Railways were shut down from 10.45 PM on May 2 to 5 AM on May 3.
During the time period, facilities like the call centre, IVRS touchscreen and 139 enquiry system were unavailable for users.
The online portals of the Indian Railways, including the IRCTC, were shut down for upgradation as some new features are being added to websites and apps.
