New Delhi, September 18: The Indian Railways will roll out new Anubhuti coach with better facilities and amenities soon. With key focus on the passengers’ comfort, Anubhuti coach is another to hit the track after Humsafar, Antyodya, Tejas Express. With infotainment system, more room for leg space, modular toilets, sliding doors — the coach will justify its name Anubhuti which means experience.
The Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, will make 10 Anubhuti coaches during current year. These Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) AC Executive Luxury Chair Cars are planned to be used on Shatabdi train services. Here are the salient features of the Anubhuti coaches:
The coach will have a seating capacity of 56 passengers.
On demand infotainment system for the passengers. LCD display are fitted at the back of every seat. And for middle facing seats, LCD screens are at the centre table, which shall pop-up by a push button.
The touch-screen monitor to have various menus for music and movies. Headphone shall be provided for each screen.
Roof hung LCD displays will provide GPS based passenger information like next destination and speed. These displays can be used for advertisements also.
USB mobile charging sockets shall be provided for each passenger and it shall be kept between the seats.
Automatic compartment sliding doors at both ends of the AC compartments.
Modular toilets with touch-free taps and improved interior finish.
LED lighting.
Attendant call facility for each seat. The call button is provided below the luggage rack adjacent to the reading lights.
Special exterior color scheme with anti-graffiti coating.
An Anubhuti coach will cost Railways an additional Rs 30-35 lakh more for adding luxury fitments. A normal coach without the plush features currently costs around Rs 2.5 crore.
