The three Indian workers from Kerala who were beaten by their Saudi employer reached their home in Trivandrum, Kerala on Saturday morning.

Indian workers tortured in Saudi reaches Kerala after External Affairs Ministry intervenes

Trivandrum, Kerala, Dec 26: The three Indian workers from Kerala who were beaten by their Saudi employer reached their home in Trivandrum, Kerala on Saturday morning. External Affair Minister, Sushma Swaraj on Friday had tweeted saying that the Indian employees will reach Trivandrum today. She tweeted, “All the three Indian workers are reaching Trivandrum from Saudi Arabia by Flt FZ 439 at 02.30 hrs on 26 Dec 2015.”

The men came to Indian under police protected after the External Affairs Ministry intervened. The three men went to Saudi through a placement agency which gave false promises.However, they were mistreated by their employer who beat them with a wooden log. The men then secretly recorded how their employer beat them and sent it to their family members in Kerala. After which the video went viral on social media.  Swaraj tweeted, “We reported this to Saudi Police. We are in touch with Indian workers. They will be back in India within a week.” Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy also raised his concern on the incident and said, “We got the complaints about the three persons from Kerala. They were in a very bad situation. They were tortured by some people. We have contacted the consulate general. Some Malayali associations have also intervened to send them back to Kerala. They will reach here in two days.” Kerala police have registered a case against the agency which sent the men to Saudi.
