IndiGo’s operational crisis continued for the fourth day on Friday, causing major chaos at airports across India. Thousands of travellers were left stuck without food or water, with empty help desks and missing luggage adding to the confusion. On Thursday alone, IndiGo cancelled more than 550 domestic and international flights, far higher than its usual 170–200 cancellations a day. This led to serious disruptions at many major airports. The worst-hit routes were those connected to Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Goa.
According to PTI, the number of cancellations at different airports included 118 in Mumbai, 100 in Bengaluru, 75 in Hyderabad, 35 in Kolkata, 26 in Chennai, and 11 in Goa. Many other airports also faced delays and problems.

IndiGo has issued an apology after days of major disruptions. In a statement on X, the airline said it was “deeply sorry” for the problems faced by passengers. It added that the last two days had seen large-scale delays across its network. IndiGo said its teams were working hard, with help from MOCA, DGCA, BCAS, AAI and airport operators, to fix the situation and bring operations back to normal.
The airline said the disruptions were caused by “unexpected operational problems,” which included technical issues, bad weather and the introduction of new crew duty rules (FDTL norms).
IndiGo has told the aviation regulator that more cancellations may happen in the coming days. Starting December 8, the airline will reduce the number of flights it operates to avoid further delays.
IndiGo runs more than 400 aircraft, operates over 2,300 flights every day, and connects more than 90 cities in India and 45 cities abroad. In FY25, it carried 118 million passengers. The airline was recently named the “Best Airline in India and South Asia” at the 2025 Skytrax Awards.
