Indigo Flights Cancelled: Amid major disruptions related to Indigo Airlines’ commercial flights, which have affected hundreds of passengers for the past three days, Indian Railways has come forward and announced 89 special trains across different parts of the country for the convenience of passengers. In Ahmedabad, the Railways and IRCTC have set up a counter inside the airport so that passengers can easily book trains.
“Railways and IRCTC are operating special trains to Delhi. We have set up a counter here at the airport itself. We are booking tickets for passengers here on a direct payment basis. There are two trains to Delhi and booking can be done on the same,” Shubham Arya, IRCTC official said.

The Railways has come forward to help the stranded passenger who are stuck at different airports across the country. It has announced over 89 special trains on major routes to help the passengers.
According to Railway Public Relations Officer Ajay Solanki, the department is adding extra coaches to regular trains in order to facilitate passengers.
“Considering the needs of the passengers, the Western Railways have decided to run special trains. Sabarmati-Delhi special train will be run on 7th and 9th December at 10.55 PM and will reach Delhi the next day at 3.15 PM… Another train, Sabarmati-Delhi Sarai Rohilla, will start on 7th December at 5.30 AM and reach Delhi Sarai Rohilla at 11 PM… The passengers are requested to take advantage of these services… They are also asked to arrive at the railway station half an hour earlier due to possible traffic delays… We will also add extra coaches to the trains to the regular trains- an AC 3-tier coach will be added to Ahmedabad-Thawe junction; 2nd Class AC coach will be added to Swarna Jayanti Rajdhani Express; sleeper coach will be added to Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express,” the railway officiacl said.
For the past few days, the civil aviation industry has been hit by massive disruptions. Several flights have been cancelled, severe delays are happening, and rescheduling has been announced by IndiGo. This has happened primarily due to a sudden shortage of pilots and crew after the DGCA announced implementation of revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms.
Due to this, hundreds of passengers facing significant inconvenience at the airports. Long queues have been seen at several airports.

According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, it has issued an order to Indigo to clear all pending refunds of the passengers regarding flight cancellations and disrupted flights by Sunday evening, December 7.
The airline also assured that it will fully refund the amount of tickets cancelled between December 5 and December 15.
The airline stated that it its officials are working around the clock to solve the disruptions and bringing operations back to normal. It further informed that the flight operations may improve further in the coming days.
“Today (December 6), the number of cancellations has dropped below 850 flights, much lower compared to yesterday (December 5). We’re continuing to work towards reducing this number progressively over the next few days,” a statement of an airline spokesperson read.
The airline gave a reason for the chaos “a multitude of unforeseen operational challenges.” It also said that problems like – tech glitches, winter schedule changes, congestion, and weather contributed to the massive flight cancellations.
According to aviation insiders and regulators, the massive disruption happened following the implementation of Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). It is the new crew rest and duty-hour rules which is designed by the government to prevent pilot fatigue.
