New Delhi, April 10: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has overtly supported Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student leader Kanhaiya Kumar who rose to prominence after being arrested on sedition charges. Kanhaiya turned into a leftist icon within a fortnight and brought the greatest amount of flak towards the Narendra Modi government in its 20-month tenure. While ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that Kanhaiya is being sponsored by ‘anti-national’ forces and political opponents, the latter has maintained that his struggle is only to uplift the rights of student fraternity.
Fresh allegations have been made against Nitish Kumar of funding Kanhaiya and the political unrest in Delhi. According to a right-wing columnist Dr Gaurav Pradhan, Nitish transferred Rs 6 lakh in the accounts of Kanhaiya. In a series of tweets from his account @DrGPradhan, he claimed that he has account numbers of the duo, along with transactional details of HDFC bank to prove his charge.
