Srinagar: A day after the shocking execution of a 17-year-old school boy, the militants in Jammu and Kashmir abducted and killed another teenager on Saturday. 19-year-old Huzaif Ashraf Kuttay was abducted along with two other, Farooq Ahmad and Shahid Ahmad, from a bakery shop from Saidpora Payeen village in Shopian. His body was found in a deserted orchard in Hermain village with its throat slit.Also Read - As India Detects Cases of Omicron Variant, States Issue Stern Guidelines For Travellers | Check SOPs Here

The body of Huzaif Ahmad was recovered from Lundoora village on Saturday evening while Farooq Ahmad and Shahid Ahmad were released unharmed. “Terrorists Saturday killed a civilian in a brutal act of terror in Shopian district after he was kidnapped earlier in the day from Saidpora area,” a police official said. The deceased Huzaif was a resident of Manzgam area of the neighbouring Kulgam district. An official told PTI that his body was handed over to his family after completion of the medico-legal formalities. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and an investigation has been initiated in the Shopian case. The incident comes a day after a teenager was executed on the suspicion of being a police informer. 17-year-old Nadeem Manzoor was abducted from Shopian was killed in neighbouring Pulwama district, the police said. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media drawing wrath from all over the country.

“Terrorists in intervening night of November 15-16 forcibly abducted a civilian and killed him in Pulwama. He has been identified as Nadeem Manzoor of Safanagri, Shopian. His bullet-riddled body was retrieved by police from Kilora Pulwama. Cas registered and investigation initiated,” the J&K police was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

On Saturday evening, two more civilians were abducted by gunmen from Meemander village of Shopian district. The two civilians are identified as Hakib Javed and Ishfaq Ahmad.

Expressing grief on the killing of Kuttay, former chief minister Omar Abdullah said, “Another dastardly killing of a young man, this time the terrorists slit his throat. This barbarism has no place in our society and no struggle, no matter how lofty the claims to justify it, can condone this inhuman behaviour.”

India had in September called off talks with Pakistan on the sidelines of UNGA in New York over the killing of three soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian. “The latest brutal killings of our security personnel by Pakistan-based entities and the recent release of a series of 20 postage stamps by Pakistan glorifying a terrorist and terrorism confirmed that Pakistan will not mend its ways,” the MEA said.
