Srinagar, March 9: On Thursday, one terrorist was killed in a brief shootout in Bandipora district near police station in North Kashmir. The number of terrorists are unknown and the area has been cordoned off. Also Read - 'Can't Even Kiss My Wife', Says Farooq Abdullah, Laments The Pandemic

As per Kashmir Reader, a militant opened fire an army vehicle in which an army major of 14 RR was travelling and he received injuries. In retaliation, the militant, the militant, identified as Mushtaq Peer of Hizbul Mujahideen was killed. This is the the third encounter between terrorists and security forces int the month of March. On March 5,  a policeman Manzoor Ahmed has lost his life as security forces were engaged in an encounter with militants in Shikargah, Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Many such encounters took place last month.

On February 23, three Army jawans of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles were reportedly killed and five were injured after an unspecified number of terrorists attacked a patrolling party in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir

On February 17, two local policemen were injured in central Kashmir’s Badgam district when militants hurled a grenade at a police patrolling party in Nowgam sector.

On February 14,  four jawans and four terrorists were killed in two separate gun battles in Bandipora and Handwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The first attack reported from Bandipora claimed the lives of 3 jawans and in the encounter one terrorist was killed. However, in the second attack in Handwara district, 3 terrorists were killed in an encounter.
