New Delhi, June 19: At least two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terrorists were killed on Tuesday after a gunfight broke out between them and the security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. One CRPF jawan was injured in the attack. The police have recovered bodies of two terrorists and the search for the third one is on.

“Firing stopped, all neutralised. Two bodies (terrorists) recovered, third being searched,” tweets JammuAndKashmir DGP SP Vaid on an exchange of fire between terrorists & security forces in Pulwama’s Tral.

Defence Ministry sources said that out of the three JeM militants hiding in Tral area, two have been killed. “A CRPF trooper was injured in the encounter. He has been shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar,” an official said.

This followed a cordon and search operation launched by the Army’s counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Special Operations Group of the state police.

“As the security forces tightened the cordon, the hidden militants fired at them, triggering the gunfight,” police said.

Notably, the encounter came as Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced that there would be no extension to the unilateral ceasefire, which was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir to create a peaceful environment in the valley during the holy month of Ramzan.

On Thursday, June 14, two bike-borne terrorists attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and snatched his rifle near Sadora Railway Station in Anantnag district.
