Vishakhapatnam: YSRCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy who was stabbed in the arm by a waiter at the Vishakhapatnam Airport earlier today informed people that he safe and sound. Reddy is currently being treated at the Omega Hospital.
Reddy tweeted, “To everyone worried about my safety, I’d like to inform you that I am safe. God’s grace & love, concern & blessings of people of Andhra will protect me. Such cowardice acts will not dissuade me but only strengthen my resolve to work for the people of my state.”
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader arrived at the Hyderabad Airport a while back. ADCP Mahendra Patrudu said that the state government has formed a special investigation team with one ACP and two inspectors to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, Vishakhapatnam Airport Director said the police have inspected the site of the incident. The security has been increased on the city side. The situation is under control and all operations are normal. Reportedly, Reddy was on his way to Hyderabad when the unidentified assailant posing as the leader’s supporter, attacked the former on the pretext of taking a selfie with him.
The attacker was immediately detained at the airport by the police. Reddy suffered a minor injury on his left arm and was given first aid at the airport. As per media reports, police said that the accused had told that he attacked Reddy as he did want him to come to power.
As per reports, the assailant works as a waiter in a canteen at the airport.
Speaking of the incident, the YSR Congress alleged a conspiracy by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government. Taking to Twitter, the party said, “Clearly, it is the government’s failure to provide security for the opposition leader.” The party raised questions over the security provided to Reddy at the airport.
The TDP termed the allegations by the YSR Congress as “unfortunate” and said that the security at the airport is supervised by a central agency. It, however, said that a detailed investigation will be carried out in the matter.
