In the past week, the forensic report released declares that Jagendra Singh’s death was due to self-immolation. This contradicts the claims made by the kin of Shahjahanpur-based journalist. The forensic report is being used by the Uttar Pradesh government to downplay the entire matter as a case of suicide. However, Jagendra Singh’s testimony minutes before his death, where he clearly accuses the police and goons of entering his house and setting him on fire on the behest of minister Ram Murti Verma, is of no value to the government.
