Shimla, Dec 27: Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh along with his Cabinet ministers. Jai Ram Thakur was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Dev Vrat at Shimla’s Ridge Maidan which turned into a fortress for the swearing-in ceremony. Along with Thakur, 10 Cabinet ministers also took the oath.
The ministers who have secured a Cabinet berth are Mahendra Singh, Suresh Bhardwaj, Anil Sharma, Sarveen Choudhary, Ram Lal Markand, Vipin Singh Parmar, Virender Kanwar, Vikram Singh, Govind Singh Thakur and Rajiv Sahjal. Click here for full list of ministers in Jai Ram Thakur Cabinet.
Ahead of the oath-taking ceremony, Jai Ram Thakur said he misses his father who died last year. “Mataji aswasth hain, par unka aashirwaad hai aur ye mere liye bohot badi baat hai (My mother too is unwell but her blessings are with me),” Thakur said. “It is a win for the common man. There are a lot of expectations with this government that they will try and solve the problems faced by the public,” Sadhana Thakur, Jai Ram Thakur’s wife, was quoted as saying by ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president Amit Shah, former deputy prime minister LK Advani and several Union ministers and chief ministers were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Yesterday, Vijay Rupani was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
A day before the swearing-in ceremony in Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur had said that his government will not indulge in “political vendetta”. Vowing to end the VIP culture in the state, Thakur said that there will be no re-employment of retired and blue-eyed (dishonest) bureaucrats in his Cabinet. “All the retired and blue-eyed bureaucrats who were re-employed by the previous government will have to go now,” he had said.
Thakur also said the government will also review the hasty decisions the previous Congress government took in last three months. “New cabinet will have experienced leaders and some new faces. The decision on those in re-employment or extension would be taken on December 27 after the oath-taking ceremony,” he had said.
