New Delhi, August 25 : In a shocking turn of events, the Foreign Secretary of India, S. Jaishankar decided to forgo diplomatic niceties. Responding to a letter that Jaishankar received from his Pakistani counterpart. Foreign, Foreign Secretary Jaishankar dismissed the Pakistani invitation yo India on the pre-condition that the meeting would be to mainly discuss the Kashmir Valley dispute as per the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.
The letter dated August 19 was sent to the Indian Foreign Secretary despite India’s earlier demands that there be a discussion between India and Pakistan on cross border terrorism . However pakistan responded to the Foreign Secretary’s proposal by sending an invitation from Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry inviting India to discuss Jammu and Kashmir in Islamabad end of this month. The letter from Pakistan was addressed to the Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale in Islamabad, Pakistan. (ALSO READ : Pakistani singer Atif Aslam cancels concert in Gurgaon)
The terrorism sponsoring country further specified that it wanted to find a solution as per the United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the people of the state. Pakistan went on to slam India on the ongoing protests in Kashmir. India’s stance on that issue too has been that the a large part of the unrest was instigated by Pakistani sponsored terrorist elements. Ignoring its own Human Righs issues, Pakistan considers it it’s foremost duty to highlight any issues of Human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Foreign Secretary has very bluntly rejected Pakistan’s proposal to hold Foreign Secretary-level talks on Kashmir and insisted that discussions should be rather held on aspects related to cross- border terrorism which are central to the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
