New Delhi: Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) – a banned terrorist outfit of Bangladesh is planning to carry out attacks in North Bengal amidst the ongoing Durga Puja festivities, intelligence inputs received by central security agencies and the state government claimed. “Subversive activities may be carried out at four places of North Bengal – Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar and Siliguri,” said the intelligence report, which is in possession of Zee Media .
“Four JMB operatives have planned for destructive activity during Durga puja. Their target is to carry out sabotage attacks at Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Siliguri,” the report reads. While two operatives have already entered the Indian territory and settled in West Bengal’s Dinhata area located in Coochbehar district, two other operatives are gearing up to enter in the next two days.
It further adds, “Out of four JMB cadres, two already came in India and taking shelter in Dinhata’s red light area and the remaining two will come within two days. They target and inflict maximum injury during Durga puja.”
The report also suggests that they will procure explosives from Nepal.
The intelligence input comes days after it was reported that Pakistan is using its high commission in Dhaka to conduct anti-India activities.
Earlier in 2014, on October 2, during Durga Puja an accidental blast in Bengal’s Burdwan district blew off the lid of the JMB sleeper cells active in Bengal. The NIA investigating the case, concluded JMB’s involvement in its chargesheet and said how JMB was active across several places in Bengal.
