Srinagar: Two militants were on Thursday killed in a firing between security forces and terrorists in Baratkalan-Gund Mohalla of Sopore. The encounter started yesterday but continued till today morning. However, the operation has now concluded. J&K police told ANI that they acted in accordance with the tip-off received regarding the presence of militants in the area. “Based on credible input about presence of terrorists in Brath Kalan area of Sopore, a search op was launched by Police & security forces jointly in the area y’day evening. As the searches were on, search party was fired upon by hiding terrorists. Fire was retaliated (sic),” the police said.
