Jammu And Kashmir: Army Jawan Shot Dead by Terrorists in Warpora Area of Sopore

The Army jawan was shot dead at Warpora area of Sopore district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday evening. He has been identified as Mohd Rafi Yatoo.

Srinagar: An Army jawan was shot dead by suspected terrorists in Sopore district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday evening. The incident was reported from Warpora area.

The deceased jawan has been identified as Mohd Rafi Yatoo. He was a soldier with 52RR posted in Baramulla and was at home on leave when he was fired upon.

According to the police, the terrorists fired upon him from point blank range and he suffered critical injuries. He succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Army killed two terrorists in an encounter with security forces in Imam Sahib area of Shopian district in the state.

The incidents came a few days after three terrorists were neutralised following an intense gunfight with the security forces in Keller area of Shopian district in the state. The encounter was carried out by a joint search party of the CRPF, Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
