Srinagar: A Hurriyat activist was shot on Saturday by unidentified gunmen in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore area in Baramulla district. The gunmen fired at Hakim-ul-Rehman Sultani, the deceased from close range in Bomai area. The slain activist was affiliated with the group led by Syed Ali Geelani and had been recently released from jail, IANS reported. Meanwhile, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant, involved in a number of terrorist attacks on the security forces was killed in a gunfight with the police in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities said that an unidentified number of militants attacked a police post in Achabal area following which there was a brief gunfight.
