Srinagar, February 13: Security forces foiled attack on Domana Army unit in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. A search operation is underway and the entire area has been cordoned off. Helicopter is being used to conduct surveillance of the area.
Gunshots were heard around 4:30 AM after some suspicious movement was noticed near the Army unit, News18 reported.
Meanwhile, gunbattle resumed between security forces and terrorists in Karan Nagar area today. The forces foiled terrorists’s attempt to strike a CRPF camp on Monday.
“Encounter is still going on. We are operating cautiously to avoid any collateral damage to citizens and property,” said Zulfiqar Hasan, IG Operation, CRPF.
Terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed responsibility for Karan Nagar terror attack. A CRPF jawan who was injured in the exchange of fire succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
The attack took place just two days after terrorists attacked an Army camp in Sunjwan area of Jammu, killing seven people including six soldiers. A jawan’s body was recovered from the forest area in the military station, thus, crossing the death toll to seven.
The latest attack on the Army camp took place nearly 15 months after the Jammu region was hit by a similar attack. The last terror attack in the Jammu region had taken place on November 29, 2016, when terrorists stormed the Army’s Nagrota camp on the outskirts of Jammu city, killing seven Army personnel including two officers.
Three terrorists were gunned down in the operation.
