New Delhi: Two persons including a special police officer (SPO) and a civilian have been killed on Wednesday after being critically injured as terrorists opened fire during an encounter in Sopore area of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. Militants opened fire on a police party at Warpora in Sopore area this evening, resulting in injuries to SPO Wajid Ahmad and an unidentified civilian, the officials said. Also Read - Shah Faesal, 2 PDP Leaders to be Released Soon as J-K Administration Revokes Public Safety Act Against Them

Meanwhile, an encounter is still underway between security forces and terrorists in Budgam. According to reports, a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in Zenipora village by a joint army and police team on Wednesday evening but came under fire from the hiding militants. The security forces retaliated, setting off the gunfight.



There have been reports of intermittent firing from both sides.
