New Delhi, Aug 17: Suspected militants killed a woman in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. A police spokesman said banned militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen was behind the killing of the woman. Shameema Bano, a resident of Quil, was shot in the Drubgam area of Pulwama, an official said. He said the woman was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead. Also Read - With Taboo Around Erectile Dysfunction, India Becomes 'Impotence Capital of The World'
On August 13, militants had abducted and killed a civilian in Pulwama district. Police had said that militants barged into the house of Gulzar Bhat and abducted him. Police had recovered his bullet-riddled body from nearby fields. “Initial investigation suggested that the Zahoor Thokar and Showkat Dar-led group of proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen are involved in the killing,” the officer had said.
An Army jawan Aurangzeb was also abducted and killed by terrorists in Pulwama while on his way back home to celebrate Eid with his family. After his abduction, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a massive manhunt. Hours later, his bullet-riddled body was found in the outskirts of Pulwama.
On April 2, four Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists had barged into a house at Hajin in Bandipora and attacked the family members of one Farooq Ahmad Parray. The terrorists opened fire and abducted Parray’s son-in-law Naseer Sheikh. Naseer was later found dead with torture marks and two bullet wounds on his body.
In total, the valley has witnessed the killings of over 55 militants and the deaths of 27 locals this year.
