Srinagar, Jan 20: Terrorists from an identified group on Saturday hurled a grenade at a police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. Unconfirmed reports suggested no person was injured in the explosion. The terrorists soon fled from the place after the incident.

Alarmed after the incident, the security forces along with Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off the area and launched a rigorous search operation.

Earlier, eight police personnel sustained in a grenade attack by militants at Tehsil office in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Eight policemen were injured after some terrorists in a cowardly act, hurled a grenade at Tehsil office in Pulwama,” a police spokesman said.

The injured cops were shifted to the district hospital in Pulwama for treatment. Later, two policemen — ASI Mohammad Shafi and head constable Ghulam Nabi — were shifted to 92 Base hospital of the Army at Badamibagh for treatment, the spokesman said.
