New Delhi: Four militants were killed and three Army jawans were injured after an encounter broke out in  Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. All four militants killed in the gun battle with the security forces in Hardmanguri Batpora village belonged to Damhal Hanjipora area of the same district. “The encounter has ended. Bodies of four slain militants have been recovered. Three army soldiers sustained injuries in this operation. One soldier sustained a bullet injury while two sustained splinter injuries. The injured have been shifted to hospital,” the police said. Notably,  a joint team of Army’s 34RR and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in Hardmanguri Batapora area in Kulgram district after getting specific information about presence of some militants in the area. The encounter began after the militants opened fire on the security forces.

Taking to Twitter, J&K police had informed that the militants were involved in the killing of two civilians — Siraj Ahmad Gorse and Ghulam Hassan Wagay in Kulgam on Wednesday night.  “Same group of terrorists trapped who killed 3 civilians recently,” the police said.
