Srinagar: Two militants were killed on Tuesday in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore district. Earlier in the day, authorities had closed educational institutions and suspended mobile Internet services in Sopore town after the exchange of firing began. Briefing about the matter, a police official said that a cordon and search operation was launched in Dar Ganie Gund village in Tral’s Aribal area in the south Kashmir following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area. The encounter broke out after the militants fired upon the forces who retaliated, he added.
