Srinagar, April 18: Heavy clashes were witnessed between two groups of students from Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (BGSB) University in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Tension seem to have gripped the valley once again after the NIT protest settled. Reportedly, clash took place between the locals and students from outside the state.
One of the eyewitness at BGSBU said, “There was heavy clash between 2 groups of local students & valley students, few are injured.” Several vehicles have also been burned. As per reports, Kashmiri students have taken positions inside the university while local students are outside university campus. Both are pelting stones at each other. Recenty, students of NIT Srinagar clashes on the campus ocer India’s defeat ti West Indies in the World T20 Cup. Further worsening situation, outstation students tried to march on APril, but were stopped by the police. The incident resulted in lathi charge by police. Although it was believed that peace was finally returning to the educational institution after examinations were held there, new clashes seems to have gripped Srinagar. Over 1000 students skipped the test to appear it later on. During thr NIT protest, JNU student union joint secretary Saurabh Sharma and DU student union president Satender Awana were also present. Sharma had said that the matter will be brought under the notice of the Home Ministry.
