New Delhi, Apr 29: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday sounded the bugle for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 at the Ramlila Ground in the national capital. While addressing ‘Jan Aakrosh’ rally, he slammed the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and asserted that the people across the country are unhappy with the Centre. “I interact with many people around the country. Whenever I ask them if they are happy with the Modi Govt, the reply is a resounding NO.” He also asserted that the Congress will win every election from now on and will also emerge victorious in 2019. “Congress will win in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan,” he claimed.

Strengthening his attack, Gandhi said that people have to search hard for shreds of truth within his speeches, when PM Modi speaks. He accused the Prime Minister of snatching away the Rafale deal from an experienced PSU like HAL and giving it away to an inexperienced private entity owned by his friend. He even targeted Union Minister Piyush Goyal and said that he makes dubious business deals benefiting companies linked to him through his position and claimed that the PM ignores all of this. (Also read: PM Won’t be Able to Speak in Front of me, Claims Rahul at ‘Save The Constitution’ Campaign)

“PM Modi says ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. Ironically, the members of his own party are assaulting women,” Gandhi attacked the Prime Minister in the wake of Unnnao rape case.

Claiming that only the Congress can support the farmers of India and protect their interests, Gandhi said, “I met PM Modi myself and asked him to waive off farm loans. He refused and said that waiving off farm loans is not their policy.” He also attacked the PM for remaining mum over increasing atrocities against the Dalits.

Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at PM Modi over his 2-day visit to China where he met Chinese President during an informal summit. He said,”The Chinese are aggressively pursuing militarisation in Doklam. Despite this, all that PM Modi does is hold a “no-agenda” meeting with the Chinese President.”

UPA chairperson and party’s former president Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh also pulled up the BJP government during Congress’s Jan Aakrosh Rally.

The main aim of the public rally is to address resentment of all sections of the society towards Narendra Modi-led Central government. “People in every state of India, especially in BJP ruled states, are reeling under an exploitative regime. The Modi government is not bothered about the agricultural distress, rising unemployment, increasing number of rapes, farmers suicides and still want to fool people through well crafted jumlas. Thousands of party workers will express their Aakrosh (anger) against these very anti-people policies of the Modi government,” said Congress spokesperson PL Punia had said earlier.
