New Delhi: Ballari mining baron and former Karnataka minister G Janardhana Reddy who was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has been sent to judicial custody till November 24. Reddy’s close aide Ali Khan has also been arrested in connection with the money transaction worth crores of rupees, allegedly linked to a Ponzi scheme. The mining baron’s bail plea application will be taken tomorrow.

The latest development comes a day after he was interrogated by the Crime Branch officials for hours.

“We have taken the decision to arrest him on the basis of credible evidence and witnesses statements. We will produce him before the magistrate. We are going to recover the money and give it to the investors,” said Alok Kumar, Additional CP, Central Crime Branch.

A few days ago, in a video message from an unknown location, Reddy had said that he was not absconding and was very much in the city, asserting that there was no need for him to flee. He had also rubbished media reports that he had fled to Hyderabad or some other city.

“I have not committed anything wrong. The police do not have a single document to prove that I am wrong. They are misleading the media,” he claimed in his message telecast by TV channels.
