Jay Panda Quits Biju Janata Dal, Says Quitting The Politics BJD Has Descended Into

New Delhi, May 28: Baijayant Panda aka Jay Panda on Monday quit Od Biju Janata Dal (BJD) allegedly due to differences with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In a letter written to Patnaik, Panda said that he was quitting the politics the BJP has descended into.

“It’s with deep anguish, hurt and sorrow that I have decided to quit the politics into which our BJD has descended,” he said in the letter. He added that he’ll formally convey his decision to the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Panda was earlier suspended from the Biju Janata Dal party for his anti-party activities on 24 January 2018. Expressing shock, panda had denied the allegations saying that the charges were “false and baseless”.

Besides being active in Parliament since 2000 and in his constituency, Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda has been championing several key initiatives such as plain packaging of tobacco products, an alliance against malnutrition and others.
