The people in Tamil Nadu and the media, in particular, have their reservations on the health status of Jayalalithaa. Many fear that Jayalalithaa might, in fact, be dead already and attempts to cover up her death temporarily is simply to control public order. The leader enjoys extreme popularity in Tamil Nadu and there are fears that public order might be disrupted if the announcement of her death is made. However, it must be noted that there is absolutely no confirmation of Amma’s passing away and it would be best if such rumours are kept away.
Jayalalithaa had been admitted to the Apollo hospital in Chennai ever since 22 of September. However, political opponents had even thought of another ingenious way to taunt “Amma” while she is sick. Their last weapon (before her photo on the ventilator) was Jayalalithaa’s Wikipedia page where they had set about editing the information in a bid to proclaim her dead!
