Jehanabad Molestation: 4 Youth Detained, Interrogated by SIT in Connection With Disrobing Minor Girl

At least four people have been detained by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for molesting a minor girl in Bihar's Jehanabad district. The police took swift action and captured two people from Siwan's Bharthua village in the district.

Jehanabad, April 30: At least four people have been detained by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for molesting a minor girl in Bihar’s Jehanabad district. The police took swift action and captured two people from Siwan’s Bharthua village in the district. The SIT carried the investigation in the molestation case throughout the night and detained a total of four people, out of which two have been accused of filming the crime.

The accused namely, Amar Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Sunil Kumar and the fourth one, all 18 years of age, were arrested from Bharthua village. The police have also ascertained that the ghastly video which became viral was shot on Amar Kumar’s mobile phone. A charge sheet is being prepared against the four accused. The area where the girl was molested comes under the jurisdiction of Bhelawar police outpost in Kako thana near Bharthua village, said police personnel.

Meanwhile, attempts are being made to obtain more information about the victim. It must be noted that the video which has been taken down from the social media platforms is still being circulated over messaging applications. Reportedly, any person found guilty of misusing the viral video for either personal or political gain will be strictly dealt with.  The police is yet to arrest three other people.

On April 29, Sunday, a minor girl was molested by eight unidentified youth in broad daylight in Bihar’s Jehanabad and the video of the crime was uploaded by the victim’s perpetrators on the social media. The horrific video shows youth molesting, stripping and dragging the victim. The girl looked devastated and could be seen constantly begging the youth. A case had already been lodged under Section 376 (rape), Section 511 (punishment for offences punishable with life or other imprisonments) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012 by the Jehanabad police.
