New Delhi: An active terrorist affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Jaish e Mohammad was arrested in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, stated the Kashmir Zone Police on Sunday.

A case was registered against the terrorist and an investigation is underway. Police have already recovered the arms and ammunition from the terrorist, stated news agency ANI. More details are awaited.

Earlier in the day, an exchange of fire took place between the Border Security Force (BSF) and terrorists in J&K’s Baramulla. The BSF successfully foiled the infiltration bid resulting in terrorists going back to Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir. At least four to five infiltrators had allegedly tried to enter the Indian side on Saturday at around 11:30 PM, stated a report.

In yet another incident last month, a mob torched a BSF truck in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after it collided with a civilian vehicle on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway. The vehicle collision had three people injured, including two women and a policeman. Soon after the accident, the victims were admitted to the SKIMS Hospital in Srinagar in a critical health condition, stated a report.

In a similar encounter on August 21, a Special Police Officer lost his life and one terrorist was gunned down in J&K’s Baramulla district. Sub-inspector Amardeep Parihar who was injured in the encounter was rushed admitted to a hospital for treatment following the gun battle. While the identity of the terrorist was not found, the martyred SPO was identified as Billal by the Jammu and Kashmir police.
