Ranchi, Jun 7: A CoBRA commando of the CRPF was killed on Thursday during an encounter with Naxals in Saraikela area of Jharkhand. A policeman injured in the firing succumbed to injuries later in the day. The gunbattle began during wee hours in the Dalbhaga-Arki area. Meanwhile, search operation is underway in the region.

The firing began at 7 AM when a joint team of the 209th battallion of the CoBRA (commando battalion for resolute action) and Jharkhand police launched a search and destory operation (SADO) in Saraikela-Kharsawan district.

A commando has been killed while a state police personnel has been injured during the encounter, officials had informed earlier in the day.

The encounter took place in Saraikela, the administrative headquarter of Saraikela Kharsawan district which is about 135-km from Ranchi.
