Ranchi, Apr 4: Security forces gunned down five Maoists in an encounter in Serendaag jungle of Jharkhand’s Latehar district today. The gun-battle between Maoists and a joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the state police is still underway. According to Superintendent of Police Prasant Anand, bodies of five Maoists and three AK-47 rifles have been recovered from the encounter site. The encounter broke out when security forces were conducting a search operation in Serendaag jungle. Further details were awaited. Earlier this month, seven Maoists, including four carrying rewards on their heads, were arrested and a cache of arms and ammunition and over 300 Aadhaar cards were seized in raids since Monday in Giridih district. The raids took place in Akbaki village and 13 firearms including AK-47 and INSAS rifles were seized.
