New Delhi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Simon Marandi has taken lead in early trends whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Hemlal Murmu is trailing in Jharkhand’s Littipara. According to the early trends, the JMM candidate secured lead of 1570 votes in Littipara constituency which has seen a turn out of nearly 68 per cent on April 09.
The main contest in the constituency is said to be between Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Hemlal Murmu and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s old warrior Simon Marandi.
Littipara traditionally is a JMM stronghold but this time the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to capture that seat that JMM has held for the last 40 years. To claim victory, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das himself had campaigned for five days for the party candidate in the bye-poll.
The seat fell vacant following the demise of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator Anil Murmu due to heart attack in January this year.
