Jharkhand Municipal Corporation Elections Results 2018: List of Elected Mayor, Deputy Mayor of Adityapur, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Modinagar, Ranchi Nagar Nigam

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept the Jharkhand Municipal Corporation Elections 2018 (Jharkhand Nagar Nigam Chunav 2018), winning Mayoral and Deputy Mayoral posts in all five local bodies.

Ranchi, Apr 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept the Jharkhand Municipal Corporation Elections 2018 (Jharkhand Nagar Nigam Chunav 2018), winning Mayoral and Deputy Mayoral posts in all five local bodies. The party won the top two posts in Hazaribagh, Adityapur, Giridih, Ranchi and Modinagar Municipal Corporation. In Ranchi, the BJP was caught in a tight battle with the Jharkhan Mukti Morcha for the mayoral post. JMM’s Varsha Garhi was leading in the initial few rounds of counting even as Asha Lakra of BJP took over later. In Adityapur too, the JMM gave a fierce fight to the BJP but ended up second on both the Mahapaur and Up Mahapaur posts. Live updates on Jharkhand Nagar Nigam Elections 2018 Results here.

Voting took place for the Jharkhand Civic Polls on Monday, April 16 from 7 am to 5 pm. Catch updates of results for Jharkhand local body polls 2018 here. A total voter turnout of 65.15 per cent was recorded in the Jharkhand Civic Polls overall, Ranchi Municipal Corporation, which is the state’s largest urban local body, recorded the lowest turnout of 49.3 per cent.  (Also See: updates on Jharkhand Municipal Election results)

The contest had become even more interesting with candidates for the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor fighting on the party symbol.

The Nagar Nigams that went to polls were:

• Hazaribagh Nagar Nigam
• Giridih Nagar Nigam
• Ranchi Nagar Nigam
• Adityapur Nagar Nigam

According to Jharkhand State Election Commission, 278 candidates were in the fray for 34 Mayor and chairman seats,  320 for Deputy Mayor and Vice chairman, 122 for Mayoral and Presidential posts and 23 candidates for Deputy Mayor and Vice President posts.

The results for Jharkhand Nagar Parishad Elections 2018 and Jharkhand Nagar Panchayat elections 2018 were also declared today. Along with 5 Nagar Nigams, voting took place for 16 Municipal Councils (Nagar Parishad) and 13 Nagar Panchayats.
