New Delhi: A teenager died hours after she was allegedly gangraped by five people in a village in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district on Saturday, police said.
The accused are believed to be part of a marriage party, who were visiting the village from Jamatara district.
All the five accused, including two minors, have been apprehended, the police said.
According to reports, the girl came back home limping and fainted while narrating her ordeal to the family. She was rushed to the hospital, where she died.
Reportedly, the accused men were in an inebriated state when they lured the girl to a deserted place and gangraped her.
A police officer said, “We suspect more than five persons were involved in the crime. We will take the arrested persons to district headquarters (Dhanbad) for interrogation.”
East Tundi Block Development Officer Suresh Kumar Sinha met the family of the victim and assured to provide all assistance as per the state government’s rules.
