Jind, Jan 17: In a massive twist in the rape and murder case of a 15-year-old girl in Jind, the body of the prime suspect was found in Kurukshetra in a field on Wednesday. The police had been searching for the suspect. With the discovery of his body, the course of investigation might change now. The Class X student’s half-naked body was found on Saturday from near the bank of a canal in a village in Jind district after she had gone missing since last Tuesday.  Doctors who conducted her autopsy said that a hard and blunt object was inserted into her private parts, which caused severe internal injuries to her vital organs. Her liver was found ruptured. Her lungs were also found to be damaged, suggesting that someone sat on her chest with his full weight. “The body had many injury marks, private parts were mutilated and there were lot of internal injuries. Signs of sexual assault are visible and looks like 3-4 people were responsible, a hard & blunt thing was inserted inside her, signs of drowning also found,” said Dr SK Dattarwal of PGI Rohtak had said. Deputy SP Kaptan Singh had said that an FIR was registered under Section 302 of the IPC. Two SITs have been formed for investigation. No arrests have been made in the case so far.

Members of the victim’s family said that the girl wanted to be a doctor. They demanded that the culprits should be hanged.

“She was a bright student. She wanted to become a doctor. Her uncle was also helping her to realise her aim. He was sure that she will become a doctor or some high-ranking officer,” the girl’s father told reporters.

“They should be hanged. If there is even harsher punishment than hanging, they deserve that,” he added.
