Kashmir, July 7: Curfew has been imposed in Tral town located in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on the eve of death anniversary of slain militant Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in huge numbers in several places and all entry points to the town have been closed by the forces. Security forces have set up ‘nakas’ in places since morning. The roads have been closed with barbed wire and security forces have been directing people to stay indoors. Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, have also called for a general strike tomorrow on the second day anniversary of militant Burhan Wani. Separatists had called strike today against Asiya Andrabi being shifted to Delhi. As per reports, separatists have asked people to assemble in the town and offer ‘Fateha’ to the Hizbul Mujahideen commander.
Killing of Burhan led to massive protests in the valley during which 120 people, mostly youth, died in security force action.
