Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested three men accused of having provided logistical support to an SPO who fled with rifles from an ex-MLA’s residence last year, said ANI. (Also read: Ban Madrassas to Check Terrorism, Says BJP’s Kavinder Gupta)

Parveez A Wani, Javid Y Dar and Subzar A Kumar had allegedly helped SPO Adil Bashir Sheikh, who was attached with ex-MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir. He and his associates fled with seven AK rifles and Mir’s personal pistol on September 28, 2018.

The trio will be produced in the Special NIA Court, Jammu, on Wednesday for seeking police custody for further investigation and unearthing the larger conspiracy.

NIA had found that SPO Sheikh and his associates, Yawar Ahmad Dar and Rafique Ahmad Bhat, had taken away the weapons as part of a conspiracy hatched by Kashmir-based top leadership of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.

While Rafique had been arrested, Adil and Yawar were still absconding.

Last month, NIA carried out raids at the homes of three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in Awantipora of Jammu and Kashmir. If reports are to be believed, the raids are also being conducted at homes of terrorists, including Sajjad Bhat whose car was used in the dastardly Pulwama terror attack in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed on February 14.

The development had come a day after 12 Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 jets dropped six 1,000 kg laser-guided bombs over two JeM camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s (PoK) Chakothi, Muzaffarabad areas and pounded JeM’s biggest training camp in Balakot.
