Reports of at least ten policemen resigning came after the abduction and killing of two Special Police Officers (SPOs) and a constable by the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in Shopian district of south Kashmir. It was being said that four SPOs and a constable resigned from their posts on Friday.

The video which surfaced earlier showed SPOs Shabir Ahmad Thoker and Tajalla Hussain along with constable Mohd Irshad Baba announce their resignation from their jobs as a result of the brutal murders of Jammu and Kashmir policemen by Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists earlier today. Reportedly, Riyaz Naiko, Operational Commander of the terrorist outfit, had warned the state police, a few days before especially the SPOs, to resign from their posts.
At least three Jammu and Kashmir policemen who were abducted by the terrorists from Shopian district in South Kashmir earlier on Thursday night have been killed. The bodies of two Special Police Officers (SPOs) and a constable were recovered from an orchard in Wangam area on Friday. A Twitter handle purportedly belonging to the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit claimed responsibility for the abduction and killing.
The police personnel who have been killed have been identified as constable Nissar Ahmed and two special police officers – Firdous Ahmed and Kulwant Singh – from Kapren and Heepora areas of Shopian district. Nissar Ahmed was working with the armed police, Firdous Ahmed, who was under the process of being converted to a constable, served in the Railways. Kulwant Singh was posted with Kulgam police. The terrorists had also kidnapped the brother of a police constable but he was released later.
