Srinagar, Dec 29: On Thursday morning, encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists at Shahgund Hajin in Bandipora District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). According to Aaj Tak channel, there are two terrorists. According to Times Now report, two army officers have been injured. The area has been cordoned off and 2 terrorists are believed to be hiding. The incident took place this morning when terrorists attacked a search party. The condition of injured jawans were stated to be stable. According to PTI, acting on specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in Shahgund village of Hajin area of the district, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation and as the forces were conducting the search operation, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter. On December 17, two terrorists open fired on army convoy in Pampore on Srinagar- Jammu National Highway and three Indian soldiers were killed in the attack. On November 25, in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Bandipora, two terrorists and an Army jawan were killed.
According to reports, 60 soldiers have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) till December 15 this year. Post surgical strikes there has been a rise in terror attacks and around 100 terrorists have been killed this year.
